President's Report

Chris Delgado

Alamo ASHRAE,

I'd like to pause and take a moment to reflect on the damage and ongoing impact to our region, caused by Hurricane Harvey.

As the hurricane was tracking toward San Antonio late Friday evening, I was receiving text messages and emails from Jon Symko our Regional Director, and Eleazar Rivera Monterey chapter president, asking if we were okay. It is nice to be apart of a greater community of engineers, ASHRAE members, Texans, and the like. San Antonio was fortunate enough to miss most significant rain fall by a very slim margin. I have seen reports that a mere 30 miles separated us from the heavier bands of 15-20" of rain. However, I'm sure most of us have a relative, friend, co-worker, or colleague who did not fair as well. Watching the ongoing recovery and relief efforts, it is very easy to see this could happen to anyone of us. Images and stories continue to be shared of volunteers, neighbors, and first responders helping and savings lives of storm victims..

As the days and months go on, let's continue to remember those affected by this catastrophic

event. I encourage everyone to reach out, and find a way to give back to those in need. There are numerous groups throughout town organizing to collect donations of food and clothing, water, and money.

Let's all take the time to try to do something, big or small. We have put together a short list of organizations working to help with relief efforts in the volunteerism section.

Best Regards,

Chris Delgado, PE
