This presentation will define the intent of the USP 800 and how to interpret / implement based on typical end user needs and certification requirements. John will explain the architectural elements for proper space function and outline typical construction challenges created by inadequate detailing.  Practical systems selection and control strategies will be presented along with a trending requirements to insure ease in continuous compliance.

 

John J. Ferencak, PE, LEED AP

 

John Ferencak, PE is the Director of Engineering for Halff Associates, Inc and is President-Elect for the Alamo Chapter.  He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1998 and his M.S. in Management of Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2004.  Mr. Ferencak started his engineering career at Marmon Mok where he served as a project manager and design engineer on a variety of projects.  In 2004, Mr. Ferencak joined Goetting & Associates earning a Principal level position shortly after 1 year with the firm and was responsible for leading a profit center.  John joined The Brandt Companies in 2009 as the Director of Mechanical Engineering to pursue design-build opportunities in the contracting side of the business.  Mr. Ferencak holds an active Texas Professional Engineering License and is a LEED accredited professional.

 

He was also part of the inaugural class for the Real-estate Council of San Antonio Leadership Class (2004) and a member of the Leadership San Antonio Class 31 (2005).  Mr. Ferencak served on the advisory committee for the mayor’s task force on sustainable building for the City of San Antonio from 2007-2008.
